Resin driveways are extremely low maintenance in comparison to other driveway surfaces, but there are simple measures you can carry out that will keep your surface in prime condition.
Immediate after-care
Resin driveways are installed with polyurethanes which are one of the most chemically resistant materials you can find, but you should be extra careful when first installed not to expose the surface to any unwanted chemicals. And of course you must wait for the time period given by our installers before the drive is walked or driven on.
Ongoing care of your resin driveway
Be careful ongoing not to drop any hard objects onto the surface, such as machinery, parts and vehicles that above 7.5 tonne. Hard objects can leave marks and chips in the surface. We’d advise wooden planks under objects such as car jacks, which spreads the load of the car to prevent damage.
Always protect the surface from spillages – if a spillage was to happen the surface should be washed straight away with water, which will dilute the liquid and reduce the risk of staining. Some items can be extremely corrosive to resin driveways such as brake fluid, which should be removed with clean, warm water.
In hotter weather tyre marks can be left if the steering wheel is moved whilst the vehicle is stationary – these marks should be wiped down with white spirits and washed with emulsifier.
General maintenance
We suggest sweeping most everyday items such as soil, leaves and sand away, then hosing down the surface with clean water. This should be sufficient if maintained throughout the year.
