We offer all our existing customers reduced rates for our professional and efficient Power Clean service to keep your resin bound surface looking as good as new.
Resin bound driveways are very easy to maintain but unlike some companies/individuals claim they are NOT maintenance free. Resin bound is an open texture porous surface that is great to live with but does require care, attention and maintenance to keep it performing and looking at its best.
Any outside surface is going to require some degree of maintenance and Resin is no exception . There are contributing factors that will affect and determine how often a resin bound surface should be cleaned .
Surrounding Trees and vegetation- If your resin area is surrounded by trees or vegetation then at certain times of the year leaves/fruits etc may fall on to the drive and if left , then trafficked over the matter will be worked into the open texture surface. If this is left unchecked for a long time it can and will affect the performance and look of any resin bound surface.
Footfall and daily usage- Resin drives are a great surface to live with but a busy family can easily create muck build up and surface contamination that will need to be kept in check , kids muddy football boots , animals , vehicles can easily fetch and deposit soils that can and will affect the look and performance of the resin surface.
Dead spaces – Sometimes areas that get hardly no use can get small grass/weed growth, often small areas like a cut in at the side of the house or a rarely used pathway will get reports of grass sprouts! This is because resin bound is a porous surface so airborne seeds can settle in the surface and if the conditions are right with it being moist and humid the seeds will germinate. This is not a major problem as once the conditions dry out this growth will die off and can be easily removed.

Resin bound surfaces ideally require a small amount of weekly/fortnightly maintenance to keep them at their best.
The best way to keep on top of maintenance and really reduce the frequency of jet washing is to introduce a leaf blower into a maintenance routine. A leaf blower from back to front is just what the resin needs , it will remove most debris and surface contamination that may if left unchecked cause problems.
Here at Yorkshire resin we use a leaf blower weekly to keep our show area looking at it best. We would recommend a high powered cordless leaf blower for ease & convenience .
If a leaf blower is not available then a stiff brush and a hose down with clean water will suffice.
Resin bound can be jet washed and it’s the best way to get it looking like new again. Jet Washes up to 250 bar pressure can be used as long as they are used responsibly. When using a high power jet wash for cleaning you should use the turbo nozzle attachment that works the water in a spiral motion, the nozzle should be kept at least 15 cm 150mm away from the surface and try to avoid holding in one position for too long. For large areas with no stubborn growth a flat surface cleaner can be used but will need to be rinsed through after so can sometimes take more time doing it this way.
Whenever considering using chemicals to clean or to act as weed growth inhibitors always read the label on the bottle and follow dilution ratio advice and instructions . Some chemicals will leave a powdery residue which may need rinsing after use. Always make sure chemicals used are water based , any solvent or acid based products will compromise the structural integrity of the resin bound wearing course.
If oil is spilt on your resin surface it is very important you act quickly, if left for days/weeks etc it can and will leave a faint stain after it’s cleaned . However should you get on it within hours of the occurrence it will remove no problem. The best way to act is to put a good degreaser on the area and leave for 20 mins to do its job and break the grease/oil down then simply rinse and jet wash, repeat if necessary. If the area is in direct sunlight it pays to put a damp cloth over the treated area so it doesn’t dry out your chosen degreaser. Also when selecting a degreaser it’s best to use a thick solution or even a gel , resin bound is porous so watery solutions will just run straight through. A bit of fairy liquid usually does the trick . For really stubborn stains slight agitation with a soft plastic bristle brush is ok, avoid using metal wire brushes and excessive scrubbing.
